I have had a few friends ask me how I altered my ATG gun, so, I figured I'd make a post about it. All in all it took me about 2 days of painting and drying and then I let it sit in the garage for 24hrs to dry completely and let the smell from the Preserve it go away before I put it back together and used it.
Supplies needed:
Krylon Fusion spray paint (in color desired)
Krylon Preserve It spray
Rub-ons
Stickers
Bling
other embellishments as desired
Directions:
For the ATG, remove the two inner parts that hold the tape (this only requires removing two screws). Set aside.
Using masking or painters tape, tape off any parts you don't want painted (dispensing rollers, trigger, inner parts where you removed the tape holders from, etc).
Following the directions on the Krylon Fusion paint can, and paint your ATG. I sprayed about 3 coats.
When fully dry, decorate your ATG with your rub-ons, stickers, bling, and other embellishments that you desire.
Protect your finished work by spraying several coats of Krylon Preserve It, making sure you let it fully dry between coats.
Carefully remove all the tape you used to protect the un-altered parts and re-assemble. I would recommend not using your ATG for 24 or more hours until it's fully "cured".
Note: Krylon Preserve It tends to dull your bling. So you can either use small pieces of masking/painters tape to tape off your bling before spraying, or you can add your bling as your last embellishment after you've sprayed with Preserve It. I used Glossy Accents to adhere my bling to my ATG for a stronger bond.
Have fun and don't be impatient - you need to let the paint dry in between each coat of paint! :)
Share your finished ATG gun's with me as I would LOVE to see what you come up with!
Have a fun day!
